Sightsavers joined our efforts in April 1999 to prevent blindness and restore sight to the rural poor & needy.

In partnership with Sightsavers, we have setup two Vision Centres in Chennai, one of which is exclusively for screening truck drivers, and two Vision Centres in Odisha. In addition, screening camps for slum dwellers and truck drivers are being held in both Chennai and Odisha

The partnership with Sightsavers which started in year 1999 continues to be strong and with their support Sankara has been able to continuously provide eye care to the needy, thus contributing to eliminate avoidable blindness and visual impairment. They have also helped Sankara with capacity building initiatives in the early years
